A dispute over a smart phone between siblings took a tragic turn when a minor girl committed suicide in Bondamunda of Sundargarh district on Saturday morning.
The deceased, identified as Jaya Mahato, had a quarrel with her brother last evening over possessing the smart phone. But their parents intervened and pacified them.
However, after her father and mother went out, Jaya locked the bedroom from inside. She hung herself from the ceiling with a rope. When Jaya’s mother returned home, she knocked the door. As they was no response she called the neighbourts and found Jaya hanging.
She was rushed to hospital but doctors declared her dead.
Later, the Bondamunda police reached the spot and registered an unnatural death case and are investigating.
