A minor boy was arrested by the police here on Thursday allegedly for raping a seven-year-old girl. The police sent both victim and accused for medical test before forwarding the accused to the juvenile board.
Sources said that in the Jamunanaki area under the Kuanrumunda police outpost, the victim girl had gone to a neighbour’s house at about 10.30 am on Wednesday to watch TV.
At that time, nobody was present in that house, except a Class IX student.
Finding her alone, the 116-year-old boy allegedly attempted to rape her.
A few minutes later, the girl’s mother arrived there, following which the boy fled from the spot.
The girl’s family members lodged an FIR at the police outpost.
Some locals in the neighborhood had attempted to bring a compromise over the issue, but the girl’s family was firm on filing an FIR.
“After registering a case, we arrested the accused boy and sent him along to a juvenile board on Thursday. Medical tests for both the victim and the accused has already been conducted,” said Biramitrapur SDPO PK Routray.
