The Childline, a city-based NGO, rescued a 10-year-old boy while begging at the Bhubaneswar railway station here on Tuesday.

The boy, with a slashed tongue, was forced into begging by his master, who is said to be from the Khordha Road area. The master has employed 20 minor boys to collect alms from train passengers between Khordha Road and Bhubaneswar railway station, the rescued boy told newsmen.

He too alleged that the master has made some minor boys dumb by cutting their tongue and some others handicapped to gain sympathy of the commuters, the boy said.

The Childline volunteers found a certificate from his possession which mentions an appeal to the public to provide financial help to the cardholder as he is unable to speak.
