Police rescued a minor boy spotted begging on streets after reportedly being abandoned by his parents in the district.

The incident was reported from Makhapada village under the Nilgiri police station.

Reports said that the eight-year-old boy was surviving by begging on streets being deprived of education and care by his parents a few months ago.

Sources said that his parents eloped with their respective paramours and settled down elsewhere, leaving him alone. The helpless boy accepted begging as his only means for survival after suffering from emotional breakdown.

Receiving information from locals, the Nilgiri police rescued the boy and handed him over to Childline officials.
