Egg attack on leaders of the ruling BJD over the schoolteacher Mamita Meher murder case continued across the State with another Minister and an MLA coming under similar attacks at separate places in Bargarh district on Saturday.

Opposing Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Bijepur in Bargarh, BJP workers staged protest in the Padamapur area reiterating their demand for the dismissal of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged link with Govinda Sahu, the prime accused in the Mamita murder case.

When SC and ST Development Minister Jagannath Saraka was on his way to attend the CM’s programme for distribution of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) smart health cards the protesters hurled eggs at his vehicle at Paikamal Chhak.

Attabira MLA Snehangini Chhuria also faced a similar attack by Congress workers at Ekamra Chhak when she was on her way to Bijepur to join the event. Minister Tukuni Sahu was also opposed by Congress workers while she was proceeding to Bargarh.

On the other hand, several BJP workers, including State Yuva Morcha president Irasish Acharya were taken into preventive custody at Padmapur ahead of the CM’s visit.

Earlier on November 11, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha members had waved black flags at Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallick in Keonjhar district when he was on  his way to attend a District Planning Board meeting.
