Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Kumar Dasburma on Monday directed his officers to fulfil the paddy procurement target for the Rabi crop. After reviewing paddy procurement for the Rabi season, Dasburma said preparations for paddy procurement were over in 19 districts and 1, 75,336 farmers have already registered their names for procurement of their paddy. Till now, the department has procured 3.94 Matric Tonne of paddy, he added. He said Rs 520 crore has been sanctioned for procurement of Rabi paddy. The Minister directed the department officials to oversee whether the farmers get their payments in right time or not. He called upon the officials to make the procurement process successful.
