Transport Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi on Monday requested the Truck Owners’ Association not to go for the proposed June 9 strike while promising to take appropriate steps for fulfilment of their various demands. Mr Majhi placed this request while holding discussions with members of the association here. The members urged the Minister to take appropriate steps for construction of truck terminals at different places, resolve transport-related problems and to systemise the transport system. Other demands include e-registration, lecence of drivers and conduct of driving, motor-related awareness programmes at RTO offices during renewals and transportation of a major portion of minerals through trucks.
