Mining mafia list ready, action soon: K'jhar SP

Published on:

The Keonjhar police have prepared a list of mining mafias and other criminals and will take action against the left-outs very soon.

SP Rajesh Pandit said this to The Pioneer while asked to comment on the social media criticising role of police in granting bails to all 16 criminals arrested on charges of extortion and other criminal activities by the Keonjhar police recently.

Sources revealed that the arrested criminals were close associates of MlA Sanatan Mahakud and directly or indirectly involved with the monopoly mining business run by Mahakud.

It is also alleged that they were interfering in every affairs of the district starting from college election to Parliament polls. Public hearing for the expansion of factory or mining could not be successful without their blessings. If any individual or institution was not following Sana toes, then the person and the institution had to face a lot of humiliations in different ways by supporters of Mahakud known as Sana Sena.

It is too alleged that some Government and judiciary staffs are in his pay roll.

SP Rajesh Pandit, who had also faced the wrath of mafias during his tenure as Barbil SDPO in the year 2008, has started taking actions against those criminals after joining as the SP.

But people have started criticising in social media that police have a role in the arrested criminals getting bails.

While a common man is not granted bail in a silly case, how it happened that criminals arrested on grievous charges go bails, they wanted to know.

Pandit said the court has discretionary power, and, if required, the court’s order would be reviewed and further action would be taken against the errant.
