The poor services of the SBI, coupled with high charges, has stoked discontentment among its customers here. Sources said now the admission time being on, the students are required to make DDs.
Recently, one Shrinibash Sahu (21) had come to the SBI, Bilaipada branch, to make a DD to be deposited in the North Odisha University, Baripada, for admission, but in the bank, he was not allowed to deposit the money on the ground that the BM was out on a training programme and an employee, identified as P Patra, who was in charge of the manager was not authorized to SS (Signature Scanning) by which valid documents can be prepared.
When contacted, RM SBI PK Nayak tried to mislead the customers by saying that the problem would be over after a regular BM joins.
But customers present there said that they were not able to avail DD service in the branch for last two years as the officers deputed to the branch are not authorized as SS holders for which customers have to go to Joda, a distance of 5 km, though they have accounts in the branch. The customers, meanwhile, have demanded resumption of DD facility in the Bilaipada branch which is the only commercial bank near the Kanpur Irrigation project.
