Mines Min must quit for violating poll code: BJP

Published on:

The vehement violation of the election code of conduct by Mines Minister Rajini Kanta Singh is unfortunate and the manner in which the BJD is using the official machineries and officialdom for the upcoming local body elections is a matter of grave concern.

The electoral malpractices by using Government officials and official machinery for the elections are a clear violation of the code of conduct and Singh must resign for its gross violation, said former Minister and BJP State general secretary Manmohan Samal.

Presenting a memorandum to the State Election Commission (SEC), Samal said that the BJD leaders are not in a mood to accept the code of conduct prepared by the SEC. The Government office is being misused by Minister Singh as the office of a district president of BJD.

This is an open violation of the election rules, besides misuse of his and the Collector’s offices at large. These sorts of violations are being reported from other districts of the State too. Such violations are done to gain illegal political scores by the BJD, alleged Samal and requested the SEC to ensure strict action against these activities in order to ensure free and impartial elections.
