Millers, Dalals hold away in Bargarh

Published on:

Farmers of Bargarh district on Monday alleged that the millers have talen the yards into their control at paddy procurement centers and Dalals (middlemen) are selling paddy in Bargarh district, minting money.

The Civil Supply Department purchases paddy through PACS (Primary Agriculture cooperative Society) and sends to the millers for custom milling.

The millers should transport paddy from yards to mills.

But farmers lift the paddy to the millers on their own, bearing the cost.

Besides, they are forced to sell paddy less than the minimum support price as fixed by the Government.

Meanwhile, the district administration has registered a case against miller Lath industry in  connection with illegal storage of 4,000 tone paddy. More than 111 mills have procured paddy for custom milling in the district.

According to sources, some administration officials and Dalals are in a nexus.

The farmers associations have demanded a Vigilance investigation into irregularities in procurement of paddy.
