The Bhubaneswar SDJM Court here held a midnight hearing on Thursday night to decide whether an Army Major, accused of dowry torture by his wife, would be sent to the Jharpada jail here or Army custody.As the hearing could not be held through videoconferencing, the judge visited the SDJM Court at 10 pm and the hearing continued till 1.30 am and the judge pronounced that accused Soumya Ranjan Pati would be lodged in Army custody.
Earlier, the Mahila police here had arrested Pati, a resident of Nayapalli, who was also accused of attempting to murder his wife. The woman alleged that her husband was demanding lakhs of rupees as dowry.
