Micro Finance staff, investors stage demo, demand money

Employees and customers of the chit fund company Micro Finance limited on Friday staged a massive dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan here demanding return of investors’ money.

Hundreds of investors and employees of the chit fund company under the banner of the Micro Finance ltd Karmachari and Upabhokta Forum came in a procession from DAV Public School Square and staged the rally urging the Governor to direct the State Government for return of the investors’ deposits.

Forum coordinator Bhaktabandhu Mishra, an employee of the company, said the investors vented their ire against the company employees by filing complaints with the police instead of the company.

“When we urged the company to return investors’ money, the latter told us that they can’t pay as the company accounts have been seized by the Crime Branch,” said Mishra.

Even the CBI probing the chit fund scam is investigating the company’s fraud, so the company could not do anything to return the money, said an employee, adding, “But the investors don’t understand this issue and are torturing us by giving threats.”

Mishra said they welcome the CBI probe and other probes in the chit fund scam, but the State Government has to think seriously how the investors would get back money without further trouble.

“If the Government really wants to return investors’ money, it should come forward and declare publicly that the depositors will get their money back,” he added.

The employees and investors of the company have been suffering with many problems from the day the company stopped paying premium amount of the deposits.

“We will continue our dharna and agitation till the Government makes a plan to return depositors’ money,” said an investor.
