MGNREGA row: BJP accuses State of siphoning Central funds

Published on:

The BJP on Saturday alleged that the State Government misutilised funds meant for MGNREGA. Without submitting UCs to the Union Government, without conducting audit, without appointing Ombudsman and finishing the job works in stipulated time, the State Government is seeking more funds from the Centre.

Party spokesperson Lekhashri Samantsinghar stated that even though the State Government is yet to submit the UCs of Rs 3,577 crore for the year 2021-22, the Chief Minister has written to the Prime Minister seeking more funds.

She alleged that BJD workers are preparing false muster rolls, using JCB in MGNREGA works and assigning work orders in the name of fake beneficiaries even in the name of dead persons.

“While only 21 per cent of t he works has been completed during the year 2020-21 and only 3 per cent work done yet, where else did the money go,” she asked.
