Addressing a Press conference here, Patil said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would give away the award. “The district has achieved this success by taking up innovative plans at grassroots-level with consents of Gram Sabha and Palli Sabha. The slogan ‘Aasa MGNREGA re kama kariba’ to attract people and another slogan ‘Ama kama ama gram ame tadarakh kariba’ to audit project works also worked very well,” Patil said.
A total of 2.9 lakh persons belonging to 2.01 lakh households were provided 1.16 crore man-days during the year. While 5,459 projects were completed, 39,260 households got works for 100 days. These were achieved despite the Cyclone Phaillin and subsequent floods affected the district in 2013, he said. A seven-member team led by him would visit New Delhi to received the award, Patil informed.
