Wife hurt
A tribal man was killed and his wife sustained injuries when a pressure bomb went off inside a forest in Malkangiri district on Tuesday. According to reports, a couple from Darabhaguda village under the Kalimela police limits had gone to a nearby forest to graze their cattle when they accidentally came in contact with the pressure bomb that exploded. While the husband, a village headman, died on the spot, his wife was seriously injured.
After getting information from the villagers, security personnel rushed to the spot and admitted the injured woman at the Kalimela hospital. Police sources said the Maoists had planted the bomb to target the security personnel as part of their violent activities during the observation of the Martyrs’ Week. Following the incident, combing operation in the area was stepped up.
