M'giri Sevashram HM, staff axed for misbehavior

After about 300 Bonda tribe students of the Mudulipada Sevashram in Malkangiri district left the school alleging misbehaviour by teachers, the Government on Sunday suspended five teachers, including the headmaster of the Government residential school.

To bring back the students to the Sevashram, four teams of the district administration visited the Bandaghati areas and persuaded the students to attend the school after meeting their guardians. According to reports, the students vacated the school after the headmaster allegedly misbehaved with them. The students alleged, “Our headmaster told us to read the books ourselves, otherwise go home.” A probe had been undertaken, following which action was taken against the erring teachers, official said.

Notably, the Government has opened special residential schools for Bonda tribal children with facilities of healthcare and communication. in tribals-dominated areas in order to make the tribes part of the mainstream.
