Most are from outside State
The Special Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) for the vacant seats in the engineering, MBA and MCA courses in various colleges across the State was held on Sunday.
The hour-long examination, which began at 11 am, was conducted at 16 centres in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Brahmapur, Sambalpur and Baleswar with a total of only 3,925 students appearing at the test against as many as 10,871 having applied for it. And most of the examinees, constituting a mere 40 per cent of the total, were from outside the State.
The results of the examination would be announced on September 9, after which the qualified candidates can download their rank cards from the OJEE website www.ojee.nic.in and then register for counselling that would be held from September 10 to 12. The admission would be concluded by September 15.
This year, around 33,000 BTech, 3,420 MBA and 2,417 seats have remained vacant after the counselling for the JEE (Main) qualifiers. It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court had recently directed the OJEE authorities to conduct a special test to fill up the vacancies.
