A mentally-challenged youth brutally killed his minor sister in Haripur Dalua Sahi under the Balanga police station in Puri district on Wednesday night.
According to information, Nilamadhaba Behera, a mentally-challenged youth, beat his sister Kuni (14) with a stick following a quarrel between them. Kuni died on the spot. Later, Nilamadhaba’s mother Ramamani along with her brother took the body to her parental village Nuasasan and cremated the body there.
The matter came to the fore only on Thursday morning when some villagers enquired about Kuni and didn’t get satisfactory answer from Ramamani. They soon tied Nilamadhab to a pole and informed the Balanga police.
After interrogating Nilamadhaba and Ramamandi, the police along with a scientific team went to Nuasasan graveyard and collected ashes of Kuni. The police detained Ramamani’s brother and were interrogating him.
