Civil society organisation, the Ama Balasore, with the help of Mumbai-based NGO Shraddha Rehabilitation Foundation, rescued a mentally deranged widow (50) who was missing for three years from Mumbai and owned up the responsibility of her treatment and other cares.
The woman, identified as Salma Hansda , wife of Gopal Hansda , a resident of Talasahi hamlet of Gopalgaon village under the Town police station, had gone missing three years ago although she had informed that she was going to visit her brother at Bahanaga. Her family members had made a frantic search of her but in vain. Finally, they had lodged a missing complaint with police.
In fact, she boarded a wrong train and instead of Bahanaga she reached Kharagpur and from there, she took another train and reached Mumbai. While she had been roaming on streets for years living on begging, on July 7 Shradhha Foundation rescued her and began her treatment.
After treatment when she could faintly recollect her family and native place, the foundation contacted Ama Balasore. Promptly responding, the organisation facilitated her return to Baleswar by train and reunion with her family members.
“Her treatment and livelihood would be looked after by Ama Balasore,” said a functionary of Ama Balasore Subasini Jena. Notably, the Ama Balasore is headed by former MP RK Jena.
