The Youth For Social Development (YSD) and the Manav Adhikar Surakshya Mancha (MASM) in collaboration with the Oxfam India gave a memorandum to the Superintendent of the MKCG Medical College Hospital here to increase accessibility of free medicines under the Niramaya scheme.
They urged the hospital authority to increase accountability of the Government officials in the matter and allocate more funds to improve healthcare needs of the people.
The major challenges faced in the efficient implementation of ‘Niramaya’ scheme in the MKCG Hospital are unethical promotion of medicines from private medicine shops involving medical practitioner and chemists, low acceptance of free medicines, absence of any standard treatment guideline, shortage of doctors, poor distribution of medicines and unavailability of medicine in healthcare centre.
On the occasion, Abani Kumar Gaya of MASM, Syamsundar Khadagi, Bansidhar Bhuinya, Manash Ranjan Patra and Subhsis Sethy of YSD were present.
