Due to lack of consciousness, women are exploited and deprived of their property rights, said Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra at a seminar on women property rights and women emancipation organised by the Mamata Charitable Trust (MCT) here.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena said women have equal right in every field and especially they have also property rights as a member of the family.
On the occasion, the Ananya Awards were felicitated to eminent personalities followed by a cultural programme. Among others, senior gynaecologist and MCT chairman Dr Mamata Mohanty, senior lawyer Bijaya Krushna Mohanty, Social Welfare Board Chairman Latika Pradhan and Women Commission member Snehanjali Mohanty were present.
