A six-day national workshop on “Nuclear Sciences and Applications of Radioisotopes” was organised by the Indian Association of Nuclear Chemists and Allied Scientists (IANCAS) in association with the KIIT University at the KIIT campus here on Monday.
The objective of workshop was to popularise the beneficial aspects of nuclear energy and applications of radioisotopes in science, technology, agriculture and healthcare among the academic community.
Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Distinguished Scientist and BARC’s Associate Director of Physics Group Professor NK Sahoo was the chief guest. DAE Distinguished Scientist and BARC’s Director of Radiochemistry and Isotope Group Prof BS Tomar was key speaker and chairman of the workshop.
Eminent scientists from the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and about 100 faculty members and research scholars from various institutions participated in the workshop.
The participants would conduct practical relating to handling, detection, measurements and applications of radioisotopes and would provide a forum for mutual interaction among faculty, research scholars and scientists from BARC.
Among others, KIIT University VC Prof PP Mathur and BARC Prof SC Parida were present.
