The Odia Bhasa O Sanskruti Movement will hold a State-level seminar on ‘Role of Media in promoting Odia language’ at the Rotary Bhawan here on February 2, informed its chairman and Rajya Sabha member Baisnab Charan Parida. Commenting on the need for such a seminar, Parida said the spoken and the written language being used by administration, courts and educational institutions are not meant for the masses.
This can better be defined as language of colonialism. “Since both the print and electronics media use both the written and spoken Odia, they will have a direct impact on the masses,” he said.
The seminar would be opened to media persons, professionals and academician of mass communication and journalism, he said.
