Septuagenarian  Mir Khalilullah has a linking for helping the patients. He belongs to Fakirabad village under Kendrapada municipality. Since last more than four decades ,he has been providing help to the patients by taking the patients from Kendrapada to the SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack or private clinics at Cuttack for treatment. For this religious –minded bearded man Khalilullah   “service to mankind is service  to Allah." So he has been providing his help  to the needy ones. Whoever the patient is, rich or poor, Muslim or Hindu, it does not matter to him.

If he gets a call or receives information that a patient needs medical help from him, he never fails to do the Yeoman's service. According to Khalilullah, the idea of helping the patients came to his mind ,when  he came in contact with patients  who were struggling to get proper treatment at the SCB. They were not getting ambulance service.  If they reached the hospital somehow, they were exploited by the brokers.“When my second child Sheisona ,who was only two years old , was critical due to fever, the doctor of  Kendrapada  hospital had referred my daughter to the SCB. But at the SCB, I faced a lot of problems.  As I was new to the SCB, I came across several brokers. So I made up my mind to help the  people of our district, who generally come to Cuttack in critical condition for getting treatment.

Since 1979, I have been providing my help to the patients," said Khalilullah.“For the last 41 years, I have served more than 4,200 patients ,who were either critical in accident, or suffered from serious diseases like heart cancer, brain haemorrhage etc," he added.“I have donated blood to patients for 56 times who badly need blood. I too  spent money for the distressed," Khaliullah    stated.“Six years back , my father had gone  with a patient  to arrange all the required medical service at SCB. But my father fell sick on the way to Cuttack with the patient . Though all my brothers and sisters urged him to return back but he did not.Later, my father remained in bed for four days," Khalilullah's son Yasir.

Several time Khalilullah faced family disturbances, with his wife Saijad Biwi, who passed away in 2006,  often quarrelling with him and advising him to rather concentrate on a  flour mill, which was the only sources of collecting bread and butter for the eleven persons, including five sons and  four daughters in the family.
