Media should play a constructive role for the society by presenting unbiased and true news, speakers opined at a meeting held on the annual day observation of Odia vernacular daily Aji Kali here on Friday evening. Attending the event as chief guest, Excise Minister Damodar Rout condemned yellow journalism and underlined the need for publication of fact-based news.
As chief speaker, Baleswar MP RK Jena said, “When a reader finds true and positive news, it infuses positive energy and thought in his/her mind. The role of media is enormous when the country is heading for a progressive growth”. Besides, reflecting plights and distress of poor and under-privileged people, media should highlight various Governments’ schemes meant for them, he added. MlA JP Dash and district Collector Sannatan Mallick said there are many issues pertaining to services media should bring them to the notice of administration and other concerned.
