MCl staffs in panic over attack on officers

Officers working at the coalmines of the MCl lakhanpur are feeling unsafe following an attack on some officers of the lakhanpur Opencast mines by a group of villagers.

Addressing a Press meet here, Officers’ Association president AP Singh and secretary AP Shukla said mining senior manager Santosh Pandey, assistant manager Bijay Say and dozer operator Dharmam Nath were attacked by four members of a family without any faults. The miscreants also damaged a Tata Sumo vehicle by pelting stones at it.

They said that one Mahadeb Seth had been working at the MCl’s Security Agency but was fired in May 2014 after he was caught red-handed stealing diesel from one of the company vehicles. After the incident, Seth was booked by the police and was dismissed from the job. It is suspected that the incident might have influenced Seth’s family to attack the company workers.

Earlier on January 15, project officer ASR Reddy was manhandled by the same miscreants, Pandey added.

later, the association members met MCl CMD urging him to inform the matter to district administration and take strong action so that the officers can work without any fear.
