The Mahanadi Coalfields limited (MCl) has provided the first electric crematorium to Sambalpur district through its CSR.
Sambalpur MlA Dr Raseswari Panigrahi inaugurated the crematorium on Monday in the presence of Sambalpur Development Authority Chairman Bijay Mohanty and MCl CMD Anil Kumar Jha. Panigrahi praised the social services done by the MCl.
The MCl funded `1 crore for the development of the Raj Ghat in Sambalpur, which also included land scrapping, water supply, installation of 250-KVA transformers and installation of an electricity-operated human crematorium.
CMD Jha said the MCl has been doing a lot of work under its CSR and it would continue to do so in future.
Sambalpur Collector Balwant Singh briefed about the system devised for upkeep of the Raj Ghat.
