The Mahanadi Coalfields limited (MCl), in association with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), organised a four-day-long training-cum-workshop to familarise coalminers with AEBAS (Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System), which is a key component of the ambitious Digital India Programme of the Government of India..
The programme was inaugurated Director (Technical/Operations) JP Singh in the presence of Director (Personnel) lN Mishra and an AEBAS Team of NIC Odisha headed by AK Mohanty, Technical Director and AEBAS State Coordinator, and J Mohanty, Technical Director, NIC.
Singh emphasised on speedy implementation of the system in coalfields.
Mishra informed that the AEBAS is already functional at the MCl’s headquarters and Bhubaneswar office and the same would soon be replicated in all the mines and other units of the company.
The training-cum-workshop aimed to replace the conventional register-based attendance with digital system of attendance registration through the AEBAS. Over 22,000 employees on roll of the company and around 15,500 employees of various contractors engaged in the MCl would be covered under this system, which would not only be another technological adoption of the rapidly modernising company but also help in ensuring about 3,00,000 man hours per day of operations by performing more than 75,000 biometric authentications per day.
