The Mahanadi Coalfields limited (MCl) has been declared the leading corporate of Odisha in spending on CSR activities.
At a roundtable meeting held here on Tuesday, State Minister for Industries Debi Prasad Mishra released a whitepaper on ‘CSR in Odisha’ wherein the MCl was acknowledged as the top corporate spending `61.30 crore on CSR activities during the financial year 2014-15.
The MCl has also become the top coal producer of country during the financial year 2015-16.
The CSR focus of MCl has remained on infrastructure development, water supply, sanitation, healthcare, education, environment protection, women empowerment and sports promotion.
During 2014-15, the company spent `779 lakh for water supply, `3378 lakh for infrastructure, `395 lakh for education, `597 lakh electricity, `147 lakh for health and sanitation and `734 lakh for sports and culture. MCl Director (Personnel) lN Mishra and General Manager (CSR) BB Mishra participated in the meeting.
