Mahanadi Coalfields limited (MCl) Director (Technical/Operations) AK Tiwari has appreciated miners for achieving zero fatality in mines during 2014 and said the company has got the capacity, resources, talent and zeal to achieve ‘Zero Accident Potential’ in days ahead.Addressing officers and staff at the MCl headquarters after inaugurating the Annual Safety Fortnight, Tiwari said that minerals from the womb of the mother earth is in itself a challenge and maintaining the operations safe becomes a herculean task under such situation.
“Observance of Annual Safety Fortnight provides an excellent opportunity for introspection and retrospection of the weakness, if any, resulting in initiation of suitable corrective action at an appropriate time,” he added.Notably, a series of programmes have been organized in all operational areas and projects of the MCl to create awareness among mining officials regarding safety measures during mining operations and the risks involved in the job.
