MCI visit delay: Stir brewing in B'swar

Published on:

Senior politician Arun Dey on Friday came down heavily on the Central Government for the inordinate delay in visit of a Medical Council of India (MCI) team to Baleswar for issuing an lOP for the proposed Government Medical College and Hospital after inspection.

Dey stated that it is another glaring example of the Centre’s apathy and neglect towards Odisha like the issues of Mahanadi and Pollavaram. He said a bandh should be observed in Baleswar for two days to protest the Centre’s attitude.

“After two weeks, if an MCI team does not come to Baleswar, a strike should be observed and I will join the agitation for the right cause. It is blatant neglect on the Centre’s part,” Dey said.

In the meantime, several organisations including the Baleswar Development Forum are preparing for agitation over the issue.
