A three-member team of the Medical Council of India (MCI) conducted a detailed inspection of the Sahid laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SlNMCH) here to ascertain if the infrastructure requirement for admitting its first batch of students from the current academic session of 2017-18 is fulfilled.

Besides holding discussions with the college’s Dean, Superintendent and other officials, the MCI team members BC Dutta from Assam, Ravi Rathore from Karnataka and SS Singh from Rajasthan checked the mandatory infrastructure required for granting approval.

The team assessed whether the hospital complex, classrooms, library, outpatient department, inpatient department, intensive care units, boys’ and girls’ hostel buildings, specialty clinics, laboratory and administrative buildings, among others, were sufficient for conducting first-year classes with an intake capacity of 100 students.

Medical College and Hospital Superintendent Prof Sitaram Mohapaatra said the team was satisfied over the overall development of the college and there is a lot of chance for a positive report by the team.
