A team of Medical Council of India (MCI) on Tuesday failed to enter into the campus of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VSSIMSAR) at Burla because of an agitation of the students protesting against the decision to admit the students of the Sardar Rajas Medical College of Jaring of Kalahandi district at VSSIMSAR.

The four member team came to VIMSAR for a routine inspection. “But as the main gate of the institute was locked by the students, the members could not enter into the college. However, the team visited different departments of the hospital side,” said VIMSAR Director Sunamali Bag.

The students of the institution have been protesting the decision of the Orissa High Court and State Government accommodating the students of the Sardar Rajas Medical College of Jaring of Kalahandi district in VIMSAR by staging dhrana and locking the main gate of the institution.

They had also organised rallies in Sambalpur and Burla protesting against the decision and making public aware of the matter. Moreover, they had also staged demonstration in front of the office of RDC (ND) to register their protest against the decision.
