Due to unavailability of an Asha worker and 102 Ambulance, a woman had to give birth to a girl child in a moving auto-rickshaw on her way to the Kishantandi hospital in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday.

The incident has become a matter of discussion in the area now.

According to Asha Worker Boili Dhungia, Julee See, wife of Bapi See of Badamundhabani village under Morada, began feeling acute labour pain on Wednesday when she was engaged on some urgent work and a 102 ambulance was also not available to take her to the hospital immediately.

Consequently, pregnant Julee was taken to the nearby Kishantandi hospital in an auto-rickshaw.

But, on the way, the pain became unbearable for her and she delivered a girl baby in the tempo itself. Julee and her newborn were undergoing treatment in the hospital, said the Asha Worker.
