Vigilance sleuths of the Baleswar Division arrested VlW-cum-Panchayat Executive Officer Subrat Kumar Patra of Kosta panchayat under Suliapada block in Mayurbhanj district in a bribery case.
According sources, one Sumati Das was entitled to get one house under PMAY scheme. Complainant Ananta Das of Jurku village under Sulipada in Mayurbhanj had requested Patra to process the file for sanction of the house in favour of his grandmother Sumati. Patra however had demanded bribe of Rs 5,000 for the above purpose. Das had reported the matter to SP Vigilance, Baleswar.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on Thursday and Das was caught red handed at his office receiving bribe.
His office room and rented residential house at Jaleswar were being searched.
