Baripada local Fund Audit Senior Auditor Chitta Ranjan Senapati was arrested by the Vigilance police for demanding bribe of Rs 10,000 for submitting a favourable audit report on Tuesday.
Senapati had audited the accounts of Gopabandhu Nagar block in Mayurbhanj district for the year 2015-2016 between June 10 and August 10. Tusharkanti Dey, Senior Clerk of Gopabandhu Nagar Block, had requested Senapati to submit a favourable report. In response to this, Senapati had demanded bribe of Rs 10,000.
On a complaint of Dey, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap on Tuesday and accused Senapati was caught red-handed in his Government quarter at Murugabadi while demanding and accepting the bribe money.
