lecturers and employees of different colleges of Mayurbhanj district went on strike on Monday and Tuesday in support of their demand for full Government aid and total abolition of the Block Grant system.
Even, college students across the district came out in open support of their teachers’ demands.
This has now brought the teaching in the colleges to a grinding halt.
The teachers, employees and the students everywhere were found to be sitting in demonstrations in front of their respective colleges.
They went on agitation in response to a call given by the Odisha School-College Karmachari Milit Manch. The strike would continue till the demands are met, they said.
The joining of the student community in the teachers’ agitation has, of late, made the situation more serious, observers feel.
