A documentary on ‘Mu Bi Padhibi’ produced by the Mayurbhanj district administration was released by Chief Secretary GC Pati here on Saturday.

Mayurbhanj district Collector Rajesh Patil announced Mayurbhanj as an ‘out of school children-free’ district on this occasion. All steps and experiments taken to achieve this goal have been put in the documentary film, said Patil.

The Chief Secretary advised the School and Mass Education Department to put in practice the Mayurbhanj mode in other districts. He too asked Patil to initiate a campaign to make Mayurbhan child labour-free district.

It was revealed that the Mayurbhanj administration had identified 5,525 children in the age group of 6-14 years who were working as child labours and collecting polythene and bottles from roadsides and put them in residential schools, Kasturaba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, special schools and special training centres on the basis of their qualifications.

The ‘Mu Bi Padhibi’ programme had been launched in Mayurbhanj on the Utkal Divas on April 1, 2013.
