Mayor's ouster demand echoed in Nat'l Capital

The demand of resignation of BJD leader and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena for his alleged involvement in a sex video scandal purportedly featuring him and the mysterious death of engineering student Asutosh alias Rishi Mohanty, on Friday also hit the New Delhi streets with the Non-Resident Odia (NRO) Youth Forum staging a protest in front of the Odisha Bhawan.

Holding placards and raising slogans against the State Government, the activists wondered how a controversial person still acquires the position of the Mayor of the State capital city even after serious charges levelled against him.

The protest assumed significance as BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was in Delhi to attend an NRO conclave.

In the State too, opposition Congress and BJP have intensified their protest demanding ouster of Mayor Jena from the coveted position for a free and fair probe into the allegations.
