Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted cash of Rs 30,000 and gold ornaments from the Mausimaa Temple in Puri late on Wednesday night.
The incident came to the fore when the lock of the temple’s gate and the donation box were found broken on Thursday morning.
The town’s Kumbharapada police started an investigation into the incident. “I am surprised to learn about the incident of theft in Mausimaa Mandir.
The district and police administrations must take all steps to nab culprits and work out a comprehensive and effective strategy to ensure safety and security of all places of worship in Puri,” said Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb.
