Despite repeated advisories issued by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha in giving strict instructions to the teachers, invigilators and members of different squads not to carry mobile phones inside examination centres, pictures of some pages of the Mathematics question paper of the ongoing Matriculation examinations went viral on social media on Saturday.

Although these questions shared among the public through social media does not technically amount to be ‘question paper leak’ as the same are available to the public much after the examinations had begun or after the examinations are over yet the recurrence of such mischievous acts have put the BSE as well as the State Government in a sticky situation. Similar incidents had happened on the day the fortnight-long examinations began on Friday last week and was repeated for a second time on Monday this week.

“We have received reports that a few pages of the multiple-choice question paper were available online on Whatsapp messengers in an examination

Matric question goes online for 3rd time center in Kendrapada district. Since this happened much after the examination had begun, the incidence in no way affected the ongoing examinations,” said an official of the BSE here expressing concerns over such developments.

Even as the Government has already entrusted the matter to be investigated by the Cyber police station of the CID, the police are yet to identify the mischievous elements. “Even though these mischievous acts have not affected the examinations yet, the examinees are definitely getting panicked and are in a state of fright fearing that the examination dates could be rescheduled,” said a teacher of a city-based school here.
