The matriculation examinations in the State will commence from the first week of March next, said officials of Board of Secondary Education.
Marks would be replaced by grades while examination papers would have equal numbers of multiple-choice objective and long-answer type questions. The sample question papers are available on www.bseodisha.nic.in.
This year, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has scraped the marking system in the examination in favour of a grading system. The new system would replace the earlier division system.
The answer-sheets of the students would be evaluated on nine point grades like A (91-100), B (81-90), C (71-80), D (61-70), E (51-60), F (41-50), G (31-40), H (21-30) and I (11-20). However, the marks secured by the students would be mentioned in the mark-sheets to facilitate admission in colleges.
The BSE has also planned to include more objective or multiple choice questions for better evaluation of the answer-sheets.
As part of the reforms in the question pattern, the BSE has decided to increase multiple choice questions to 50 marks while keeping the rest for subjective or long questions.
