The Manav Adhikar Surakshya Manch would held a massive demonstration in front of the main gate of the MKCG Medical College Hospital on July 17 to press for implementation of its various demands, including installation of CT scan and X-Ray machines and action against Government doctors seeing patients in private clinics.
Members of various organisations and general people would join the proposed rally, which is scheduled to move from the main gate to the Medical Superintendent’s office at 10 am on the day. Protest meetings would be held on every Monday till the legitimate demands are met, said Manch coordinator Abani Kumar Gaya.
“While the CT scan machine has remained out of operation for the last eight months, doctors are taking advantage of it and earning lakhs of rupees by sending patients to private clinics. Besides, doctors are remaining absent in the medical as they are seeing patients in private clinics in order to earn more money,” alleged Gaya. He lamented saying that though the Health Minister and the district Collector knew about doctors’ absence during a visit, yet they have not taken any action.
He further alleged that the authorities have adopted a loot attitude by collecting users’ fees from patients in order to pay salaries to security guards. “A process has started for privatisaion of health services. It should be stopped,” he demanded.
