With daily Covid-19 cases shooting up, the Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) has made wearing of facemasks mandatory for its citizens in all public places, including markets.

The RMC Commissioner informed this on Wednesday.

Moreover, the RMC directed its citizens to go for Covid-19 tests if they develop flu-like symptoms. “People can go for Covid testing at SAIL Health Centre Sector 6, SAIL Health Centre Sector 1 and Rourkela Govt Hospital amid Covid protocol,” the civic body’s social media post said.

Earlier, the Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur Municipal Corporations have issued fresh guidelines mandating mask-wearing among people at public places.

As per the guidelines, people must wear facemask at public places like markets, religious sites, open gyms and parks.  Shopkeepers have been directed to put up signboard with ‘No Mask No Entry’ and ‘No Mask No Goods’ written on it.
