The Martyrs’ Week called by the Maoists from July 28 to August 3 in south Odisha ended without major incidents. A tribal man had been killed at Bandhugaon a day before the week and a pressure bomb blast took place in which a tribal in Malkangiri lost his life and his wife was seriously injured.
South-West Range IG of Police
YK Jethwa said that as there are strong combing operations carried out by the BSF, DVF, COBRA, SOG and the State police, no major incident took place during the week.
However, the Martyrs’ Week had seriously affected the bus services to Malkangiri and Rayagada districts from Koraput and Jeypore. Normal bus services resumed from Monday.
