A 28-year-old married Dalit woman and mother of two children of Patalipanka village under Marshaghai police limits on Monday night was allegedly raped by a fellow villager.
Ranjan Mallick (35) alias Jaya raped her by sealing her mouth in a cloth and tying her hand and leg at her bedroom, said Marshaghai police station IIC Sukant Kumar Patra. Meanwhile, police arrested Ranjan.
According to police, on Monday night, while the woman was going to urinate outside of her house, Ranjan slyly entered into her house and hide himself beneath the bed. When the woman locked the room from inside after returning her room and taking the advantage of absence of her husband, Ranjan allegedly raped her by putting clothes on the woman’s mouth and tying her hand and leg. Medical examinations of the accused and the victim would be conducted on Wednesday, said the police.
