The Commercial Tax Wing of the State Vigilance Department on Friday swooped down on some established marble traders in the twin cities and unearthed massive irregularities involving under-invoicing, unaccounted-for sales and suppression of stocks leading to loss of Government revenue to the tune of crores of rupees.
Many incriminating documents, seized by the inspecting officials, are being scrutinised to quantify the exact extent of the fraud. After verification, action as deemed proper would be taken against the unscrupulous traders, said a Vigilance release on Saturday.
The firms that came under the raid included RK Marble, Swati Marble, Hanuman Mozaic & Marble, Shree Marble, Maa Sarala Marble and Maheswari Marble & Granite of Bhubaneswar and Swati Marble of Cuttack.
