After a few days’ lull, Maoists went on the rampage in Nuapada district and hurled bombs at a forest beat house at Golabandh village under the Sadar police station on Thursday late night, damaging it completely.
The ultras also set on fire a JCB machine parked near the beat house.
Several posters bearing the name of Nuapada-Mainpur Division of the CPI Maoists were found on the spot. It was suspected more than 15 to 20 armed Red rebels carried out the attack.
Though the locals were in a state of panic, police were yet to reach the spot.
Nuapada SP GR Raghavendra said the posters were written by Maoists belonging to the Mainpur-Nuapada division. “Eight handwritten letters, written on polythene, were put up across the village alleging police atrocities and anti-people approach of the BJP, BJD and Chhattisgarh Governments. We had recently unearthed two Maoist camps at Patdhara. This seems like a retaliation for that. We are verifying with our sources,” he added.
Notably, 10 Maoists on June 30 had stormed into a crusher near Deokupali area under the Muniguda police station in Rayagada district and torched two poclain machines, five Hyvas and two loaders.
