An exchange of fire took place between Maoists and Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel near lankagarh village under the Belaghar police limits in Kandhamal district on Thursday.
As per primary information, there were 20 to 25 Maoists who were present at a camp near lankagarh where the security forces conducted a raid. The gun battle continued for around one and a half hours, sources said.
A huge cache of explosives, bullets and scrapped currency notes were seized from the spot by security personnel.
